What is a Professional Placement?
Professional Placement (can be called ‘sandwich placement’ or ‘industrial placement’ or ‘internship’) is 10-12 months with a company in a real job after the completion of your second year. It uses knowledge from your degree in a work environment. Placements are normally paid and can be in any geographical region (including placements outside the UK.) A placement usually takes place at the end of your second year.
When should I start looking for a Placement?
In October of your second year, briefing sessions are organised by the Placement Team and an invitation will be sent to your Aston email address nearer the time. Employers have indicated that successful applicants tended to be those who had submitted early applications.
