Thursday 23rd February
6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Linklaters, The Auditorium, Linklaters, One Silk Street, London, EC2Y 8HQ United Kingdom
As part of their celebrations for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGB&T) History Month, the Linklaters LGBT Network is pleased to invite you to a talk with Vicky Beeching. Vicky is a well-known writer and broadcaster often seen commentating on religion or diversity-related stories on BBC News, Sky News and Channel 4. She is a guest presenter on shows like BBC1’s Songs of Praise and Sunday Morning Live and a regular on Radio 4’s “Thought For The Day” on the Today programme. She also writes for papers like The Telegraph and The Guardian.
Formerly a professional Christian musician based in America, Vicky spent a decade playing weekly in mega-churches that seated thousands of people. Her songs are still among the most-sung in churches across the States and Europe. Rooted in such a conservative world of church-goers, she had never been able to speak up about her gay identity. In 2014 she decided to finally do so. The decision was costly, and has lost her a lot, but she has gained far more. Come and hear Vicky’s honest story about sexuality, identity, faith, mental health, and facing your fears.
Following Vicky’s talk there will be an opportunity for Q&A, followed by informal networking over drinks and canapés.
