Bring your daughters to work week.

24th – 28th April 2017 - All day, all weekYour place of work.

A week of events introducing girls to the world of work in STEM. As part of the initiative we would like to encourage employers to sign up for the People Like Me training. This is an opportunity to train up to 15 members of the outreach and CSR teams to deliver the resource on the day. This is a great opportunity for employers to engage with parents and daughters. Delivering a People Like Me session on the day will allow the girls to gain knowledge and awareness of all the different careers in STEM.

There are several ways in which you can get involved:

Option 1: Celebrate the day in your workplace and invite colleagues to bring their daughters to work. Being able to see women doing the jobs we promote is fantastic and a real eye-opener. Let us know your plans and we will share on our website: [email protected]

Option 2: We understand that due to health and safety regulations it isn’t always possible to bring young people into the workplace; why not encourage colleagues to go out to local schools, clubs or groups and provide a talk/activity on the day? Let us know your plans and we will share on our website: [email protected].

Support from WISE: To help create a memorable and effective experience for the girls we are asking organisations to incorporate the People Like Me approach into their activities. Integrating People Like Me into your organisation's outreach work identifies your organisation as a leader in equality and diversity. WISE’s ground-breaking resource shows girls that people just like them are happy and successful working in science, technology or engineering and raises awareness of some of the career paths open to them. By delivering People Like Me, your organisation can engage directly with the next generation of STEM talent.

Option 3: Run a WISE led People Like Me session in your organisation. A WISE trainer will deliver a session to all the girls that are invited into the workplace. This can be incorporated into the day and can be delivered in the morning or in the afternoon. This will allow the girls to ‘shadow’ colleagues for part of the day and benefit from a People Like Me session also. Book a trainer: [email protected]. Limited availability! Cost: £1,000.

Option 4: People Like Me training Train up to 15 of your employees on the People Like Me approach. They will then be able to deliver a session during the week either at your workplace, local school or in the community. A WISE trainer will run a training session teaching the fundamentals of the resource and provide training on how to deliver the session to girls. Book a trainer: [email protected]. Cost £1,500.

Option 5: Combine both – have 15 of your employees trained to deliver the session in the morning and then have a group session with the staff as role models for a WISE led session. Book a trainer: [email protected]. Limited availability, Cost £1,850.

Option 6: Be a part of the campaign on social media. Share and retweet our posts #daughtersatwork – Sign up to the Thunderclap on Twitter on Bring your daughters to work day (Thursday 27 April) and help us spread the message. Contact Shagufta if you have any questions: [email protected]

Commercial: All prices exclude VAT and expenses. Pricing valid for bookings made prior to March 31st. Training and Events will be invoiced on day of training/session. We will be tweeting throughout the week using #daughtersatwork #peoplelikeme #girlsinSTEM.
