This is an annual observance in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom (October) for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It was first acknowledged in the UK in 1987. Throughout the UK, many events are staged to celebrate this with people frequenting exhibitions, attending plays, street theatre, art, music and of course food. It is observed in the UK in October and in the US and Canada in February.
