Inclusion at the Core

Wipro is built on an unflinching commitment to our values, better known as the “Spirit of Wipro.” These values are the cornerstone of our inclusion and diversity (I&D) practices. While we have always nurtured equal opportunity, meritocracy and inclusion, we structured these into a framework for I&D in 2008.

Our initial focus was on Gender Inclusion. Thereafter, we expanded the scope to Persons with Disabilities; Nationalities; Underprivileged communities; Suppliers; and more recently, LGBT groups. Across the spectrum, we remain focused on building a Plurality of Ideas and on the elimination of Unconscious Bias.

With a diverse client, portfolio spread across industries, countries, cultures and technologies- Inclusion is a mainstream business driver and a must-have trait, rather than an aspirational initiative. At Wipro, our client portfolio is diverse in composition in terms of locations, culture, industries and technologies they deploy. In order to address the increasing complexities of such a diverse clientele, it is imperative to cultivate a workforce, which can generate a rich mosaic of ideas that enhance innovation resulting in higher revenues & greater customer satisfaction. Nurturing diversity by embracing a heterogeneous workforce and making inclusion a part of Wipro’s culture has remained a key focus area for the organization and is a strategic enabler to ensure business growth and performance.

Our Commitment

Here are the 5Cs through which the entire organisation is driven:

  • Culture (Building Inclusion as a Culture) - Experienced and practiced by all, our focus is to create a culture of belonging through focussed efforts of moving from Unconscious Bias to Conscious Inclusion. 
  • Commitment by Leadership - We have institutionalized an internal I&D Council at Wipro, chaired by our CEO with key sponsors such as the CHRO, Chief Culture Officer, Global I&D Head and Business Heads, Geography Heads across the board. I&D is a key agenda item for our Board Reviews.
  • Communication - Sustained communication from the leadership team through town halls, team meets or mail communication has emphasized on building inclusion. Average readership of these communications is 90%, globally.
  • Collaboration - Inclusion Champs: An internal network of passionate enthusiasts and allies from Business, Functional and HR Teams, are evangelists who drive the culture of Inclusion at Wipro. 
  • Continuous Improvement of the Enabling Environment - We constantly review our process, policies and frameworks to set higher benchmarks and build an inclusive workplace environment.
