The SSRO is an executive non-departmental public body established by Part 2 of the Defence Reform Act 2014 and sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We play a key role in the regulation of single source, or non-competitive defence contracts.
Since it was formed the SSRO has been, and continues to be, committed to promoting equality and diversity and a culture that actively values difference and recognises that people from different backgrounds and experiences can bring valuable insights to the workplace and enhance the way we work.
Our commitment encompasses our workforce in our role as an employer, and as an organisation providing a public function, our ways of working with our stakeholders in industry and more widely. These commitments are captured in this document, the SSRO’s first Single Equality Scheme (the Scheme).
Our scheme will be reviewed periodically, with a first review planned to take place in 2022. The action contained in the Scheme will be updated, and progress reported to the SSRO Audit Committee, on an annual basis. These updates will include the SSRO’s latest equality data, as well as providing a general account of our progress in meeting our equalities commitments.
