National Institute For Health & Care Excellence

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance and advice on promoting high quality health, public health and social care.
Our role is to improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services.
All our work directly and positively impacts on the lives of others.

We do this by:

  • Producing evidence-based guidance and advice for health, public health and social care practitioners.
  • Developing quality standards and performance metrics for those providing and commissioning health, public health and social care services.
  • Providing a range of information services for commissioners, practitioners and managers across health and social care.

More about NICE

Our Values

We believe our values make us who we are. And how we behave shows the world exactly what we stand for.

We've looked at what made us successful, inside and out. We identified 7 core values that we feel represent us an organisation, the work we do and what it means to truly be NICE.

These are the things that reflect the very best of who we are now, and who we aspire to be in the future.

They unite us in our shared purpose and help us to deliver our strategy. They help us to achieve excellence together, in everything we do.
