With a heritage stretching back nearly 200 years, HarperCollins is one of the world’s foremost book publishers, with a catalogue ranging from cutting-edge contemporary fiction to award-winning apps and everything in between. William Collins & Sons was founded in Glasgow in 1819, and first published bibles, atlases and dictionaries, but later grew to release works from some of history’s greatest authors, such as CS Lewis, Agatha Christie, and JRR Tolkien.

Today, HarperCollins UK publishes around 1,000 books a year. Our authors include worldwide bestsellers such as Booker Prize winner Hilary Mantel, writer of Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies, George RR Martin, whose blockbusting A Song of Ice and Fire series has enraptured fans across the globe, and perennial fiction favourites Bernard Cornwell, Wilbur Smith, Patricia Cornwell and Cecelia Ahern. In non-fiction, we publish such luminaries as Max Hastings, Nigel Slater, Professor Brian Cox, Lorraine Pascale and Lena Dunham.

We lead the industry in innovation: we were the first trade publisher to digitise our content and create a global digital warehouse, protecting the rights of our authors, meeting consumer demand and generating many additional business opportunities. HarperCollins UK is run by Chief Executive Officer Charlie Redmayne and employs some 900 people in London, Glasgow and Honley.

More about Harper Collins

HarperCollins has been innovating since our inception. In the 1800s, we were the first publisher to use cloth for book binding. And in the new millennium, we were the first major publisher to release a digital catalogue, market an in-store Print on Demand programme and experiment with ebook subscription models. From enhanced ebooks and award-winning apps to industry-leading podcasts and first-of-their-kind media partnerships, we want to connect our authors with readers through as many channels and platforms as possible. Innovation is a part of who we are, and it always will be.

Diversity and Inclusion

We know we have a long way to go to being fully diverse, but we’re fully committed to making that journey.

That’s why we’re proud to champion industry and company initiatives that aim to improve diversity and inclusion of all people, regardless of age, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic background, religion or sexual orientation.
