Financial Conduct Authority

The Financial Conduct Authority

The Financial Conduct Authority is the conduct regulator for 56,000 financial services firms and financial markets in the UK and the prudential regulator for over 18,000 of those firms.

We aim to make markets work well, both for financial firms and their customers. We regulate the conduct of firms to ensure that the industry is run with integrity, that people have access to the products and services they need and that consumers can trust their providers.

Our people come from many different backgrounds, but we all share a common goal. Our aim is to provide better financial services for everyone, by delivering effective regulation, providing valuable insight and improving competition. In doing so, we help shape domestic policy and play a key role on the global regulatory stage.

Who we're looking for

We’re a diverse, forward-facing organisation which is continually working to drive improvements across the financial service. First and foremost, we’re looking for people who share our openness, desire and determination.

We hire people from all sorts of backgrounds because we want to reflect the society we serve. There are a variety of opportunities available with us, and many business areas that could benefit from your experience.

Diversity & Inclusion

The FCA is a fully inclusive employer – we have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in everything we do. Our aim is to create a diverse and inclusive workplace that is free from discrimination and bias so that we can better deliver our role as regulator. We want our employees to trust that their differences are respected and valued so they can genuinely be themselves at work.

We have set ourselves stretching targets to increase the representation of women in our senior team to 50% and Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME) colleagues to 13% by 2025 – representative of the UK population.

We support our people to understand, represent and have close links with both the wider community and the marketplace. This helps us provide the best service to the public and the financial sector and be in the strongest position to meet our obligations and role. Our Executive Diversity Committee takes strategic decisions on issues affecting equality, diversity and inclusion at the FCA, and has senior executive level responsibility for taking forward our plans and activities.

On 15th July 2021, we published our Annual Diversity Report (ADR), which provides a snapshot of our progression on diversity and inclusion over the past year. This report will hopefully act as a useful resource, highlighting our commitment, focus and achievements relating to diversity and inclusion. The full ADR can be found here.
