Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentThere is nowhere quite like Channel 4. Not in the way we entertain and stimulate our audience, nor in how we encourage and inspire the people who help us deliver for them. Publicly owned yet commercially funded, we occupy a unique place in the UK's media landscape. This is where you can start to change it, be part of it or simply explore it.
Channel 4 is a broadcaster with a purpose. We're defined by our unique public service remit. Part of this means nurturing the talent that will help us fulfil it. So doing what you do best will enable us to do what we do best: creating innovative programmes and content that reflect the UK’s richly diverse cultural landscape. We’re here to stimulate debate; to champion alternative points of view; and to inspire change in people’s lives. Whoever you are, whatever you do, you’ll be part of a proudly British Public Service Broadcaster. You’ll be part of who we are. So whether you’re just starting out in our industry or wondering where you can go next, we’ll happily be part of your journey.
Nurturing talent is part of our purpose. It's a duty we not only take seriously but embrace with open arms. Creativity. Originality. Inventiveness. Energy. These are the hallmarks of our output. They are the things that keep us fresh. So we'll be looking for them in you.

What we do as a broadcaster is guided by our unique public service remit. So it makes sense that this also influences how we work as a business and behave as an employer. In short, we are who we are because of what we do and how we do it. This is the essence of our culture. But we’re also who we are because it makes sense.
We are inclusive; not simply because we exist to reflect the rich diversity in our country but because we celebrate individuality and understand that ideas can come from anywhere or anyone. So inviting people in gives us the endless supply of energy, ideas, passion and perspectives that drive us. This feeds our ability to be creative. And if we’re anything, we’re a powerhouse of originality, innovation and imagination.
For creativity to flourish, it needs to be nurtured. So we make sure new talent has every chance to realise its potential and existing talent has what it needs to thrive. It also requires us to be open-minded and open to new ideas; to embrace new ways of working and adopt new technologies.
It’s our purpose to educate and inspire change, so we have the curiosity to explore the possibilities. It’s our purpose to deliver quality, so we collaborate – because we also know that no-one knows it all. It’s our purpose to champion the alternative, so we stand apart from the mainstream and find value in the leftfield.
We’re unique because this is what our purpose dictates. So come as you are but be ready to be different. Because we’re all here to make a change for the better.
Celebrating diversity is at the heart of Channel 4's purpose both on-screen and off-screen. Being different is therefore at our core - and we know that recruiting talent from diverse backgrounds encourages our workforce to be vibrant, creative and think differently. Our goal is also to be truly reflective of the makeup of society and we actively recruit from groups that are under-represented in the media sector. So we welcome difference be it ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
We have won awards from Stonewall for our work on screen and in the workplace, we are a member of the Business Disability Forum, and we are signed up as a Disability Confident employer with the Department of Work & Pensions. Channel 4 also won the company National Diversity Award - 2016. At the end of 2016 Channel 4 was awarded the National Equality Standard by EY, the only company ever to be placed at the highest level 'Institutionlised Inclusion'.
We understand that disabled people might have concerns about being discriminated against if they declare their disability when applying for a job. If that's you then don't worry - we will judge you on your abilities and fit against the job description. We are happy to discuss with you any adjustments you need to give you a level playing field during recruitment and then, if you're made an offer, we can then discuss with you the adjustments you might need to get on with the job and develop your career. Furthermore we can offer a guaranteed interview to any disabled applicant who meets the essential skills or experience listed above.
List of all the benefits that Channel 4 are offering their employees. Benefits may vary depending on role, location and length of service.
I’m really proud of what I do. I’m really proud to work for Channel 4. It puts across a different perspective; one that might not otherwise get heard. It’s a nice thing to be part of.

The fact I didn’t have a background in media or television was not an issue at all. What Channel 4 is interested in is you as a person; your passion and energy.
