The Black British Business Awards (BBBAwards) celebrates the often unsung contributions of exceptional black professionals and entrepreneurs. It also recognises and rewards exceptional role models and the businesses that support them.
It focuses on commercial excellence and business impact and transcends stereotypes, challenges unconscious bias and promotes social mobility. The Black British Business awards also inspire confidence in the strength of the ethnic minority talent pipeline across various sectors. It is the only premium awards programme of its kind in Britain.
The awards categories are:
Financial Services award
This includes Finance and Financial Services: includes banks, brokers, payment services, insurance companies, credit card funds and regulators.
Consumer and Retail award
This includes food, beverage, household goods, retail, travel and leisure, cosmetics, personal and luxury goods.
Professional Services award
This includes law, accounting, management consultancy and in-house professionals.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics award
STEM, includes health, industrials, telecoms, pharmaceuticals, transport and energy.
Entrepreneur award
This is someone who has been operating their own business or social enterprise for over 18 months as at 5 May 2016.
Arts and Media award
Business Person of the Year award
This award celebrates a Senior Leader who has demonstrated consistent significant commercial and strategic influence over time. They will also be an outstanding role model who makes a contribution to the wider society. They will be recognised as an inspiration, including to other Senior Leaders and would be an outstanding Ambassador for the BBBAwards.
