Women in tech at Aviva - Building an industry for everyone
Category: Aviva, women in insurance, Life at Aviva, Insurance, women in tech, Women In Technology
Our ambition is for everyone to achieve their potential, no matter who they are.
However, too many women see technology as a career path that’s closed to them. Through our Women in Technology programme, we’re encouraging more women to bring their brilliant talents to our tech roles and investing in future generations of female tech talent.
Because of it, we’re seeing more women join us as apprentices, graduates, and interns than ever before. And as the first insurance company to join the Tech Talent Charter, which is working to boost gender diversity in the UK tech industry, we’re showing other businesses how they can do it too.
Inspire others, and be inspired
If you’re just starting out in your career, we’ll give you the chance to work alongside and learn from some of the most talented tech professionals in the industry. And if you, yourself, have knowledge and experience you can share, it’s a chance to leave a lasting legacy of your own.
As well as acting as coaches and mentors within the business, many of our female tech ambassadors are working with schools; spreading the word that you don’t need to study tech to work in tech and lighting up young people’s imaginations with everything a career in tech has to offer.
Know we've always got your back
It’s not only about championing tech careers among female students or helping new starters establish themselves in the industry. Through Women In Technology we’re also supporting our existing female tech colleagues, as their careers – and lives – at Aviva progress.
One initiative we’re currently working on offers coaching and support to all employees who are returning to work after having children or taking a career break. Another is for managers to increase their awareness and understanding of menopause, so they can support colleagues during this important life stage.
Develop your career, your way
It’s important to us that you can be yourself at Aviva. And that includes getting everything you want out of your career. Everyone has their own priorities, their own training needs and their own aspirations. We’ll take the time to listen to yours and provide support that’s right for you.
When it comes to how, when and where you work, we’ll always be as flexible as we can. So, you can build a great career alongside the other important things in your life. And if you ever fancy life in a different tech team, we’ll sort out a secondment so you can explore a bit before deciding to move for good.
