York St John Women’s network event
York St John embarked on its Athena SWAN journey in March 2018 when the initial STEMM inclusion and equity working group was formed. YSJ became an Athena SWAN charter member in July 2018 and over the past 10 months, a Self-Assessment Team (SAT) chaired by The VC and involving 16 academic and professional services staff, one Governor, and two student representatives has been formed. The SAT are currently in the process of drafting a bronze institutional application.
On the 4th June YSJ will be delighted to welcome Professor Jane Hill from the University of York to talk about their journey in achieving the Athena SWAN Gold Award in the Department of Biology which they have held since 2014. Having recently gone through re-accreditation, Professor Hill will talk about some of the challenges that they have faced and also their successes in having achieved in their Gold Award.
