Thursday 3rd March saw 17 inspirational women from the BBC at Media City, trained by WISE on People Like Me resources followed by a facilitated session with 40 girls. The BBC staff were really impressed by the impact of the research and the zest we offer in the training! One participant described the training as 'eye opening' and another as 'highly engaging'.
In the afternoon, girls from two schools were lead through People Like Me sessions and the BBC role models supported the girls with the exercises. The girls also got the chance to do mini interviews with women and ask lots of questions about their personalities, their roles and even their starting salaries!
The highlight of the day was the final task where the girls had to 'pitch' for 60 seconds for a BBC woman about her personality and how she was great at her job.
The BBC employees are now looking to roll this out into schools and attract girls from all backgrounds to consider a wide range of roles at the BBC and in tech in general. The day allowed girls to learn more about who they are, how their personality relates to jobs and how there are lots of people like them out there in the sector.
