UK Power Networks win award for diversity and inclusiveness

UK Power Networks has been recognized for its diversity and inclusiveness by an organisation which promotes black, minority and ethnic engineers in the UK.
The firm, which delivers electricity to the East of England, London and the South East, picked up the Company Recognition Award at the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Engineers UK (AFBE-UK)’s 10th anniversary awards in London.
UK Power Networks won the award for demonstrating diversity and inclusion within its organisational strategy and actively supporting schemes and programmes to encourage more diverse talent.
All shortlisted companies had at least one ethnic minority individual at board level, looked inwards to encourage and support underrepresented groups including women, ethnic minorities, lower socio economic groups into more senior roles.
Patrick Clarke, the firm’s Director of Network Operations, who picked the award at Savoy Place, said: “An inclusive culture helps us unearth new ideas, new perspectives and new solutions and is vital to understand and serve our customers and improve operational excellence.”
As well as winning the award, UK Power Networks has also this week up to Equality Works (EW) Group’s Inclusive Culture’s Pledge 2018 to help improve further the company’s diversity and inclusiveness focus.
