UK Athletics: photos donated to Lee Valley Athletics Centre

Two coaches who featured in the ‘Women on Track’ photographic exhibition last year were presented with their images earlier this month, and they will be displayed at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.

Athletics coaches, Alison O’Riordan and Carol Jackson, both donated their image to Lee Valley Athletics Centre where they have coached for many years.

O’Riordan – who coaches a group of para athletics throwers at the Centre - said “I’m really honoured to be have been part of the Women on Track project and have my image permanently housed at Lee Valley – my second home. The excellent facilities and supportive staff mean I am able to coach my squad of para throwers. 

“This project has shone a light on the great work and time athletics coaches give to the sport.  I look forward to participating in more UK Athletics initiatives for women in the sport.”

‘Women on Track’ was the first of many UK Athletics initiatives concentrating on women in athletics. It was the evolution of the Black History Month ‘COACH’ photographic project which focused on Black and Asian athletics coaches; particularly those who were athletes themselves and passionate about sharing their experiences with future athletics stars.
