Santander has been announced as one of the UK’s best employers, placed in ‘The Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work For’ 2015 awards.
In their 15th year, the 2015 awards were revealed at a ceremony in central London last night. The prestigious annual rankings are based on eight key indicators of staff engagement including wellbeing, leadership and personal development.
Santander is a major UK employer with more than 20,000 staff based across its London head office and main regional offices in Milton Keynes, Glasgow, Belfast, and Leicester in addition to a network of over 900 branches.
Simon Lloyd, Chief People Officer & General Counsel, at Santander, said: “We’re delighted to be placed in the ‘The Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work For’ list. The fact that the awards are based on direct feedback from employees makes this achievement even more valuable. The wellbeing and job satisfaction of our employees is paramount to the success of our organisation and our goal to being a bank that is simple, personal and fair.”
The bank has made many improvements over the last couple of years to engage and listen to staff in order to make it a great place to work. This has included over £6 million invested in learning and development, initiatives to encourage employees to share ideas and actively participate in the development of the company, and a better recognition programme.
Dominic O’Connell, Business Editor at The Sunday Times, said: “Congratulations to all the organisations recognised in this year’s awards. Whilst from a wide range of sectors and a varying number of employees, what they have in common is enlightened and forward-looking leaders investing in the wellbeing and motivation of their most valuable assets: their employees.”
