MBDL Foundation Launches BAME Scholarship 2017

The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership (MBDL) Foundation are pleased to announce that our annual application process has opened for The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Scholarship 2017 until 29th June 2017.

Running in over 60 cities in Britain, the Scholarship will help the next generation of BAME future leaders build and lead successful, growing and dynamic careers.

Scholarship Sectors - The MBDL Foundation will award six scholarships to extraordinary BAME young leaders. The sectors are:

  • Law
  • Business & Finance
  • Multi-Sector (covering all industries such as STEM, Politics, Media etc.)
  • The Prince’s Trust (different application form/criteria is used)
  • Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre (different application form/criteria are used)
  • Lambeth Council

Scholarship Program Eligibility and Benefits - To be eligible to apply applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 14-21 years
  • Be from a Black, Asian or Ethnic Minority Background (BAME)
  • Be in attendance at a school, college or university in the UK on a full-time basis
  • Good academic performance
  • Have an interest in diversity
  • Be available to accept the Scholarship on 21st October 2017 in London.

Scholarship Package:

  • An amount up to £1,000
  • Tailored work experience
  • Mentoring with CV Advice
  • VIP access to The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture.

Selection and Notification of Applicant Status: Consistent with last year, application materials will be reviewed by our judging panel who volunteer to serve on a dedicated Selection Committee. The winning applicants will be notified during The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture.

Judging Panel 2017:  The esteemed judging panel for 2017 are some of the most influential people in Britain who are passionate about diversity and leaders at the top of their profession.

The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture: The Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture aims to raise the awareness of diversity and equality with the next generation of BAME future leaders. It will also celebrate some of the excellent and inspiring achievements of our next generation of BAME leaders from across the UK. Britain’s best BAME future talent will come together for an inspiring event while learning more about the creation of a more diverse and inclusive workplace to enable future success.

This lecture made UK history in 2016 followed by winning an award from the UK Prime Minister and personal praise by HRH The Prince of Wales for diversity work across the UK.  The scholarships are awarded during the The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture.

The 2017 agenda will include:

  • Keynote address by Chi-chi Nwanoku MBE.
  • The Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture will be delivered by Miranda Brawn.
  • Panel discussion with some of the best leaders in the country.
  • Scholarship winners for 2016 will each deliver a talk.
  • Closing Address by our Patron Dame Fiona Woolf DBE.

Venue: This will be held on the 21 October 2017 at The University of Law, London.

The 2017 Scholarship Applications Accepted 29 March – 29 June

Key Dates:

29 March 2017 – Scholarship application process will open.

29 June 2017 – Scholarship application process will close at 11.59PM GMT.

7 August 2017 – Judging finalised.

21 September 2017 – Attendees confirmed for The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture.

21 October 2017 – Scholarship Winners awarded at The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Annual Lecture.

The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership (MBDL) Foundation, an award winning non-profit organisation founded by UK diversity leader Miranda Brawn, aims to provide the next generation of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnics (BAME) future leaders with incentives and opportunities while increasing all forms of diversity and equality especially race.  The MBDL Foundation offers scholarships, diversity leadership lectures, mentoring programmes and access to top diverse talent. Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre, a London-based registered non-profit organisation, which is specifically designed for young lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT+) people, as well of those who are questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity, aged thirteen to nineteen. The Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre has partnered with The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Foundation from since April 2017 to provide scholarships to young person from a LGBT and Black, Asian and minority ethnic background to become a next generation leader and future success.

The Prince’s Trust, believe that every young person should have the chance to succeed. We help 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to transform their lives. Many of the young people we help are in, or leaving, care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or have been in trouble with the law.

The Trust has returned £1.4 billion in value to society through our help for disadvantaged young people over the last ten years alone. It all began in 1976, when HRH The Prince of Wales had a bold idea. Having completed his duty in the Royal Navy, His Royal Highness became dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK. He founded His Trust to deliver on that commitment. The Prince’s Trust has partnered with The Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Foundation from since January 2016 to provide scholarships to young person from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic background to become a next generation leader and future success. https://www.princes-trust.org.uk/
