VERCIDA: Support Forum of Cross-Company Employee Networks
Category: Industry News, BAME, VERCIDA, event
The Event On Wednesday 29th January 2014, we were proud to support The Network of Network’s (TNON) evening dedicated to Multicultural / BAME internal networks across 23 member organisations such as EDF Energy, EY, and Baker & McKenzie.
Our CEO Morgan Lobb, who co-presented with Sandra Kerr OBE, National Director at Race for Opportunity, spoke about the business case and highlighted the positive progress of organisations in broadening representation of their BAME employees.
The event provided an opportunity for employee network chairs and executive sponsors to share ideas and thought leadership with peers of other companies and sectors. With over 90 attendees, the evening included an interactive session looking at the components of a healthy network.
Employee Networks as an Attraction Piece Many of our members have employee networks that support their diversity and inclusion agenda. They find that it is an invaluable tool in both empowering BAME members of their organisation and providing development opportunities to support individuals. We have also found that this internal support is a great attraction piece and is often among the top points on the “check-list” for prospective employees. Yet organisations often do not have access to a space where they can promote the great things that their internal networks are doing and therefore cannot use this attraction strategy to their full advantage.
This is where ‘the big I.D.E.A.’ comes into good use. We have developed a platform specifically to help our members “do justice” to the fantastic internal initiatives that they have, and communicate this to prospective employees so they are fully educated on the type of organisation that they are applying to.
As our member, we use ‘the big I.D.E.A.’ to leverage the good work that your organisation does, and enhance your employer brand to our diverse audience of job seekers.
