Panel of sky employees for their International Women's Day event

The everywomanNetwork live in partnership with Sky International Women's Day Online Event turned out to be a talking shop with a difference. With thousands of men and women watching it globally.

So....do men and women think differently?

Of course they do! And here’s the thing...we’re all better for it.

The morning got off to an amazing start with Kelly Hoppen MBE. Fresh from an inspiring Comic Relief trip to Africa, Kelly celebrated the difference between men and women. She illustrated how her female brain has helped her apply her ideas effectively and how her woman’s attitude, intuition and her ability to multi-task enabled her to drive her concepts and initiatives forward whilst making sure her team were totally on board.

She shared how this was also what she had seen in the slums she visited in Africa, where women wrestle with the seemingly unsurmountable challenges of family survival whilst launching entrepreneurial initiatives such as playgroups, hairdressers, schools and community enterprises. In her own words: "It’s not a man’s world, or a woman’s world, it’s our world."

A brilliant entertaining quiz followed Kelly, with questions from TV presenter and host Ben Shephard. The lively debate and gender questions, demonstrated just how the gender communication gap can throw up hilarious differences in attitude and outcomes.

Sitting on the opposing teams on the Gender Intelligence quiz, TV presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamon Holmes, demonstrated real differences when they drew their dream rooms. Eamons' was full of gadgets and a drinks fridge whilst Ruth's room was full of cushions, an aromatic candle and a bed for her dog!

Other panel members provided much entertainment and insight and they included senior business leaders Tim Campbell MBE, Tim Skinner, and everywomanClub members Jo Rzymowska, and Ruth Carter. And of course the winning team was..the women!!

To help us understand why women and men differ, Gender Intelligence Specialist Collette Dunkley, ran us through some surprising facts including, how our brains differ.

Working together as a team became a thread that ran through the day and entrepreneur, non-exec director, broadcaster, writer and campaigner, Simon Fanshawe OBE, reinforced the mantra in his passionate plea for everyone, male or female, to embrace the team ethic. Simon's shared his views on how to build a great team and his recommendation, "Don’t employ the best person for the job … hire the best team."

Enough of words.
