Shortlist revealed for the British LGBT Awards

The shortlist for the British LGBT Awards 2017 has been announced. The awards celebrate community activists, public figures and straight allies who work to advance the rights of LGBT communities.

Many of our clients and their fantastic employees have featured in the list with ITV shortlisted for two of the Top 10 Media Moments, including transgender presenter India Willoughby featuring on Loose Women and Rylan Clark-Neal presenting This Morning with his husband, Dan. BBC have also been recognised in this category for Russell T Davies introduction of a lesbian kiss in their production of A Midsummers Night’s Dream.

BBC’s Christmas advert has been listed in the Top 10 Brands or Marketing Campaigns category for its depiction of two men kissing, alongside Lloyds Banking Group for their #HeSaidYes campaign. Lloyds Banking Group’s Karin Cook has also been nominated in the Top 10 LGBT+ Corporate Straight Allies category, along with Reed Smith’s Tamara Box, Tesco Bank’s Benny Higgins and Barclays’ Mike Roemer. Sue Baines, Barclays, and Jude Satchell-Foley, Atos, have been nominated in the Reed Smith Top 10 LGBT+ Inspirational Leaders category.

This year’s Corporate Rising Stars include Gary Coetzee from Lendlease Group, Craig Dillon from Sky and Christina Riley from Balfour Beatty; whilst the Barclays Top 10 Employers or Companies category features EDF, HSBC and PwC. Network Rail's Archway the LGBT Network has made it onto the Top 10 LGBT+ Network Groups list as well as ITV’s Pride Network. And, of course, Stonewall has featured on GMB Top 10 Charities or Community Initiatives.

British LGBT Awards founder Sarah Garrett MBE said: “The 2017 NatWest British LGBT Awards shortlist features inspirational people who have and continue to use their platform to promote and enhance LGBT rights all over the world.

“All nominees are absolutely deserving of their place on the shortlist but it is now down to the public to choose their winners ahead of the ceremony which is set to be the biggest yet when it takes place in London on 12 May.”
