Santander’s Glasgow office has opened its doors to students from schools across the city as part of its summer work experience programme.
The six-week paid work placements are designed to help improve students’ employment prospects and are part of the bank’s support for educational charity Career Ready.
Career Ready prepares students for the world of work via structured career academies incorporating a programme of mentoring, workplace visits, internships and masterclasses. The Glasgow and southside students are among 51 sixth form students from ten locations across the UK who are undertaking roles within Santander’s major sites this summer.
Iain Whyte, manager at Santander in Glasgow, said: “We believe that it is important to offer students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of a working environment so that they have the knowledge and confidence to make the best start to their career. The work placements provide students with the chance to develop their understanding of the variety of opportunities available to them. We hope this will help them to broaden their horizons, whatever they choose to do in their careers.”
