Meet Reena Chandarana - Local Business Manager at Santander.
I have worked in retail banking for fourteen years and have worked for two different banks in that time. My last role was as a Private Banking Manager, so I have plenty of experience in the sector and I was impressed by the way Santander has a clear focus on the growth of Business Banking.
It wasn't just about the growth though, but also how Santander has approached it and the fact they have researched what our business customers want. This really stood out to me.
The recruitment process was amazing - I can honestly say I haven't experienced anything like it! It was incredibly thorough. Apart from the support throughout, I met some really impressive managers and knew that I absolutely wanted to the job.
The induction was outstanding. Apart from the technical aspects of the role, we also met the admin team who support the business and forged relationships with them and other colleagues up and down the country. On the first day of our induction, we met the Head of Business Banking. He came to our meeting and spoke passionately about plans for growth and innovation. It was brilliant to meet him and it had a big impact on me. He took a real interest in us and our career plans.
I have enjoyed getting stuck into the role and enjoy the autonomy I have. I have the skills and experience so I can get on and drive the business in my area and Santander have allowed me to do that. This is a targeted sales role and I introduce seven new relationships to Santander each week, through a mixture of pro-active new business calls and referrals from my colleagues in the Branch. It is so important to make sure that the Branch team understand the products and services so they can feel confident and keen to refer a customer to me. Such a big part of this role is about exceeding customer expectations and being a good person to do business with - and I love delivering on that.
I also feel passionate about the rates and products the business can deliver. Team this with an exceptional service and we have a brilliant offer for the customer.
You have to be an outgoing and confident person to thrive in this role. You also have to be open to change and adaptable - my customers come from a wide range of backgrounds and businesses and I enjoy working with them all.
If you enjoy converting and growing business then this is such a good time to join Santander. There is lots of optimism and excitement around our growth plans.
