Lloyds Banking Group will deliver to its external recruitment partners the same diversity & inclusion training provided to its own staff as it seeks to bring greater numbers of underrepresented groups into its workforce.
The banking group has a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) arrangement with Resource Solutions (RS). However, Lloyds senior manager-resourcing Carla Welsh told a London audience this morning that “to be able to influence” practices of the approximately 140 recruitment agencies supplying staff to the bank through RS, “we needed to interact with suppliers directly”.
”We want our suppliers to understand what we’re doing,” Welsh said. “We think it’s a great investment of our time to run this for our suppliers.”
Welsh was speaking at a Diversity in Recruitment seminar attended by roughly 90 people from an estimated 35 recruitment agencies and RPOs. Attendees included representatives from Alexander Mann Solutions, Goodman Masson, Hays, Huntress, Networkers International, Nicoll Curtin and Reed.
Increasingly Lloyds is looking for its suppliers to demonstrate that they are tapping into diverse talent pools for candidates, and their recruitment partners’ success in doing so will be measured. Additionally, Welsh said, “for each of our underrepresented groups, we are building a capability base through dedicated suppliers. We are on that journey now”.
Attendees from Nicoll Curtin and Networkers International told Recruiter that Lloyds’ vision had merit. “This confirms our vision of what we need to be,” said Cian Loughnane, head of senior appointments at Nicoll Curtin.
Damian Hayes, head of corporate accounts, Networkers International, said: “It was a very useful seminar.”
