New Mental Health Network launched – Open Mind
QBE is evolving its approach to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of its people by launching a new employee network group - Open Mind.
Open Mind will promote the message that it's OK not to be OK by challenging the workplace stigma surrounding mental health and making it easier for those who need help to feel comfortable asking for it. Whatever your situation, whatever your challenge, Open Mind will ensure you always have someone to talk to, and give you confidence there is always help available.
Establishing Open Mind continues the great strides QBE has made in supporting their people's mental health, recognising it is a critical factor in being able to bring their whole selves to work. It's no longer reasonable - or realistic - to expect people to 'leave their problems at the door', and they have a duty of care to support anyone who may be struggling.
QBE have already come a long way and some initiatives include:
Mental health awareness training for leaders to help them understand how mental health can affect how team members might behave and perform at work - and to point them in the right direction of resources to help people in need.
A free subscription for all employees to the mindfulness app, Headspace.
A comprehensive employee assistance programme from Validium, providing access to counselling and emotional support for all employees and their immediate family members, and for leaders.
Appointing Mental Health First Aiders; their go-to people for anyone who is feeling stressed, anxious or worried about their own or others mental health or wellbeing.
And, now, they take the next step in their mental health journey with Open Mind
