Hi, I am Dan Biddle and I am proud to be the RIDI Champion for the third consecutive year. You may well know me from the publicity around the 7/7 London bombings which is the point in my life when I acquired my disability. As well as the many predicted challenges I have faced and overcome since this life changing point, one I had not anticipated was the difference being disabled meant when applying for jobs.
As my own experiences with the recruitment industry had not been positive, I was delighted to partner with The Clear Company and the RIDI Committee to see what could be done to improve the candidate experience. These highlights show how the RIDI approach of encouragement and access to support is having an impact. It is also evident that we have a long way to go before we can take the pressure off.
When it goes well, the results are fantastic, when it goes badly, the impact is immeasurable and unacceptable.
My thanks to all who have worked and continue to work so hard to create a disability confident Recruitment Industry and it is particularly re-assuring to see the senior level commitment in place now in so many of our largest and most influential recruitment firms, as well as those specialist organisations who continue to set the standards.
