We're looking for volunteers with accessibility expertise to join our Built Environment Accessibility Panel.
The purpose of the panel is to help make sure any major building works, stations designs and our other amenities across the UK are accessible and as inclusive as possible, helping us to deliver a better railway for a better Britain.
Membership of the panel will be voluntary. A small meeting allowance, travel and expenses will be paid. Members of the panel will be trained in the Government Railway Investment Panel (GRIP) project plan and reading drawings.
The panel will meet up to eight times per year in London. On occasion travel may be required to visit major projects. Please see the draft terms of reference.
Volunteers wanted
We are looking for two people to join the panel who have:
A knowledge of the built environment planning processes and projects would be an advantage.
Interest in accessibility to transport infrastructure, in particular interest in the accessibility of rail built environment.
Personal experience of protected characteristics (as defined in the Equality Act 2010) and understand the requirement for inclusive design.
