Learning at Work Week

Last week, we were celebrating Learning at Work Week 2022, the national event run by the Campaign for Learning.

But rather than dusty classrooms, we went digital with a special virtual exhibition featuring live streams, videos from people across the business, quick learning tips and lots of ‘did you knows’ focused on all areas of learning and development.

The exhibition took on four themes covering everything from managing your own performance and how to set good objectives through to the various internal and external training and learning opportunities available to everyone at NATS. We also highlighted our apprenticeship opportunities with a virtual session covering the professional qualifications available across different subjects. With 44 of our employees currently studying for an apprenticeship, we heard from them about the benefits their studies are bringing to their roles and advice on starting an apprenticeship.

Our virtual exhibition

Encouraging continuous learning is a big part of our ethos here, and while everyone one of us is responsible for our own learning, packaging up great content in such an interesting format was one way of encouraging people to ‘be the CEO of their own development’ and take part.

And with employees all over the world and often in roles that aren’t desk based, putting a spotlight on learning in a way that was open to everyone, available on demand and from wherever they were based, was really important.

Over the course of the week over 700 people took part, which included 18 different live streams (also then available on demand), making up a total of 23.5 hours of content. That’s a lot of learning!

And of course our focus on learning doesn’t stop after Learning at Work Week. We will continue to create the opportunities for people to learn and grow at work, through supporting career development and making our tools and resources accessible to all.

Initiatives such as Learning at Work Week let us celebrate the value and importance of all types of learning. It’s helped to connect colleagues, encouraged people to try something new and share and learn from each other. We’re excited to continue to build a culture of learning across our company – we ask everyone to be curious about learning and realise the amazing benefits it can have on work and life.
