Up from 11th last year - in the Sunday Times' list of the Top 25 Best Big Companies to Work For 2015 at an awards celebration on (February 26).
Best Companies, the organisation which carries out an extensive employee survey that forms the list found stated:
"The financial sector isn't usually known for its caring reputation but the Nationwide Building Society likes to buck the trend, and it takes the top slot in our survey of big companies for having a strong social conscience, with an 83% positive score."
The Top 25 List is based on a major survey which reports the actual experiences and perceptions of employees as opposed to external assessment or market performance measures.
Our strong performance demonstrates the high level of engagement employees experience at the Society.
This is echoed by our latest employee survey results which found that 86% of our workforce would recommend us as a place to work.
Nationwide Chief Executive Graham Beale said:
"People are our priority at Nationwide and this focus is at the heart of our culture and everything we do. I believe that's why our employees love working for the Society and why we're, yet again, named by The Sunday Times as the best bank or building society to work for.
Whether we're paying our employees the Living Wage and championing the cause or creating a truly inclusive environment in which everyone - irrespective of their background - has the opportunity to thrive, we are continuing to provide a great and productive place to work so we can attract and retain the very best people who continually deliver market-leading customer service."
