Mitie, the facilities management company, has been awarded a Platinum banding for both gender and race in the Business in the Community Diversity and Wellbeing Benchmark 2015 – the UK’s most comprehensive benchmark for workplace gender and race diversity.
98 public and private sector organisations submitted workforce data on gender and race, and were assessed on a range of key areas, including career progression, recruitment, supplier diversity, and senior management and board representation of ethnic minorities and women.
Mitie was one of just a few organisations that completed multiple gender and race benchmarks across the group – securing in total, two Platinum, three Gold, one Silver and two Bronze bandings across four of its businesses.
Karen Govier, Mitie’s Diversity and Inclusion Manager, commented: “As a business we are committed to recruiting, retaining and developing the very best people and this achievement demonstrates how diversity and inclusion is integral to our approach to doing business. We are extremely happy with these results.”
Business in the Community said: “Congratulations to Mitie on being awarded Platinum for both gender and race diversity in the workplace in the Business in the Community Diversity and Wellbeing Benchmark 2015. They have demonstrated a strong commitment to creating inclusive workplaces where employees are valued and rewarded for their contribution to the organisation, regardless of gender. I hope other employers will learn from their example and use it to drive real change within their own organisations.”
