Mind Workplace Wellbeing Index 2016/17 awards

This year marks the first of the Mind Workplace Wellbeing Index 2016/17 awards. The awards were held on the 28th March 2017 at the Soho Hotel in London. The event revealed who this year’s Gold, Silver and Bronze winners were, it also revealed the two winners of the Wellbeing Champion awards.  

The awards celebrate the achievements of all of those who were involved in the Wellbeing Index for 2016/17, the awards recognise not only the top performing organisations but also the good work that each and every employer is doing to promote positive mental health within their workplace.

The Gold Awards celebrate those that are achieving excellence within their workplace. This means that an organisation has successfully embedded mental health into its policies and practices and that they are using a variety of best practice approaches. They will also demonstrate a long-term, in-depth commitment to their staff’s mental health.

This year’s winners of the Gold Award are as follows:

  • Environment Agency
  • Ark Conway Primary Academy

The Silver Awards celebrate the employers that are achieving impact within their workplaces. This award is given to organisations that have made demonstrable achievements in promoting staff mental health and have taken action across a number of key areas to ensure progress and impact over time.

This year’s winners of the Silver Award are as follows:

  • Deloitte
  • Forsters LLP
  • Lendlease
  • Matrix Chambers
  • RBC Wealth Management

Lendlease is committed to ensuring that each and every person that works for them is safe and productive when they are in the workplace. Employee health and wellbeing is a priority for Lendlease and they aim to make sure that its staff are healthy, both mentally and physically.

It has been shown that when employees have positive mental health they are more productive at work and are therefore more beneficial to the organisation. There are significant benefits for both the business and the employees when mental health is positively addressed in the workplace.

The Bronze Awards celebrate change and recognise when an organisation has started a journey in order to improve mental health within the workplace by implementing initiatives that promote positive mental health for its staff.

The Wellbeing Champion award categories recognise two individuals who have been nominated by their peers for playing a key role in promoting positive mental health in their workplace. The categories are Employee Champion and Senior Wellbeing Champion.

The winners of this year’s Wellbeing Champion Award are as follows:

Employee Champion - Heidi Kirkby, Wellbeing Coordinator at HMRC Benefits and Credits

Senior Wellbeing Champion - Carole Black, Assistant Headteacher at Dr. Challoner's Grammar School

The first year of the Mind Wellbeing Index 2016/11 awards were a huge success and all of the employers who participated are paving the way for the growing movement towards better mental health at work. In addition to this, the judging panel for the awards represented a variety of professional backgrounds and a range of perspectives surrounding mental health in the workplace.

Mind is a mental health charity that aims to ensure that everyone who is experiencing a mental health problem gets the support and respect that they deserve.
