Hello everyone! Allow me to introduce myself – my name is Mike Bedford and I chair the DCMS Parents Network Group or PNG (as I’ll refer to it throughout). I am a passionate and exhausted father myself to a very lively 2 year old. Best but hardest job I ever had.
What’s the PNG? I hear you ask.
We are an open and inclusive community setup for parents by parents. We provide a fun, friendly and welcoming environment for parents (or those about to become parents) in DCMS to help and support each other on a wide range of issues. We also work closely with HR and act as a support mechanism for parents.
I was fortunate to take advantage of the then new shared parental leave policy (SPL) whilst in DCMS and blogged about my personal experiences. I might add that DCMS’ SPL policy is one of the most generous across government – 9 months full pay. I am personally committed to helping parents access and make the most of this policy.
We’re well connected and plugged in to Parents Networks across government and beyond.
