What do you like most about working here?

​​​​​​​As a developer, I enjoy the freedom to explore the latest technologies and to innovate where possible. Thankfully, Moneysupermarket Group has created an environment that encourages such exploration, whereby I can implement something with a fail-fast attitude whilst allowing me to stay up to date. Over the years our Tech team has developed an incredible ethos which consists of regular all-hands meetings, yearly hackathons and even designated ‘innovation time’ each week, all of which help me feel a part of a wider team and motivates me every day.

What’s the most challenging thing about working here?

What we do at MoneySavingExpert (MSE) is so impactful to people’s lives it can be challenging to keep up with the changes in society and government regulations. As a result, I find myself developing tools that cannot be found anywhere else that allows the user to feel empowered. Knowing that every new tool we create can essentially impact the lives of thousands of people is just amazing.

What makes Moneysupermarket Group unique?

During my time here, Moneysupermarket Group has had a very good track record of sticking to the strategy, whilst allowing for an innovative and inclusive culture. People of all backgrounds are celebrated, as there are occasional events to acknowledge the multitude of public holidays and diverse cultures. One event I particularly enjoyed was centred around Black History Month, where prominent black people came into the office to inspire and provide insight into Afro-Caribbean history and current circumstances. What was interesting wasn’t so much that it took place, but how welcomed it was within the company.

How has your career developed during your time at Moneysupermarket Group?

I started working at MSE 6 years ago as an Intern and have seen the company change quite vastly since then. I’ll never forget the day when I completed my internship and was offered a job as a Junior Developer, mainly because I was then thrown in the deep end straight after! I learned so much about both front and back end technologies – which I found helped create a great foundation. After a couple of years as a Junior, I became a Mid-Level Front End Developer which at this stage pushed me even further. I was able to manage small projects and given more responsibilities as my manager believed in me.  A few years later I am now a Senior Developer for MSE Tech, and I enjoy each day talking with my colleagues and solving all sorts of problems. It’s never a boring day for me, there’s always something to work on or plan for and I’m excited to see how MSE Tech develops.

What advice do you have for someone looking to join?

Looking back on my journey starting as a Junior Developer, I always felt like I had a voice within Tech, as there was always someone who would be willing to listen. It's been thrilling to work for a company who encourages learning from your mistakes and because of this attitude you will find people are quite open and willing to try new things. If you're looking for great organisation, which encourages you to be innovative and creative, then Moneysupermarket Group is the company for you.
