This week, Lloyd’s of London’s Cultural Awareness Network Group have been celebrating cultural awareness through events at their offices in London in order to celebrate the various cultures that exist within the workplace and give employees a chance to learn more about other cultures through events such as:
23rd May 2017: They held ‘The Great Cultural & Pride Bake Off’, with special guest Tamal Ray, finalist of the 2015 Great British Bake Off television series. The event encouraged employees of Lloyd’s and the London insurance market to come together in order to bake something that celebrated their culture. The event gave individuals the chance to meet others from different cultures and open up the conversation through a shared love of baking and some friendly competition!
In addition to the competition, Shirine Khoury-Haq, Chief Operating Officer of Lloyd’s of London and Cultural Awareness Network Executive Sponsor, attended the event and spoke about her cultural experiences.
24th May 2017: Lloyd’s organised an event with guest speaker Zubair Miah, Shariah Scholar in order to celebrate Ramadan in the workplace. They have also created the initiative, ‘Ramadanathon’ in the lead-up to this year’s Ramadan beginning on the 26th May 2017.
The Cultural Awareness Network is part of the wider UK insurance industries independent, multicultural networking group, iCAN – the Insurance Cultural Awareness Network.
