Lloyds Banking Group has been named in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2015, which lists the organisations that are leading on workplace gender equality. The unranked alphabetical list is published in partnership with Opportunity Now, the workplace gender campaign from Business in the Community, during Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Week.
Fiona Cannon OBE, Lloyds Banking Group Director of Diversity and Inclusion, said: “We are extremely proud to be recognised as a top employer for women for the fourth consecutive year. Lloyds Banking Group is committed to creating a meritocratic organisation and removing the barriers and obstacles that we know can block women’s progression. Being able to attract, develop and retain top female talent is highly important to us, and is an integral part of our business plan to help Britain prosper.
“We recognise that companies with diverse senior management teams perform better, and we also know the importance of having strong female role models that other women looking to develop their careers can aspire to. In 2014 we were proud to be the first FTSE 100 company to make a public commitment on gender equality – to have 40% of senior roles filled by women by 2020 – and we are pleased that we are well on track to meet this target.”
Kathryn Nawrockyi, Opportunity Now Director, Business in the Community, said: “Congratulations to Lloyds Banking Group on being included in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2015. They have recognised that putting inclusive behaviours at the core of what they do and making gender equality a business priority not only benefits the women they employ, but also the organisation as a whole and the clients, customers and communities they serve. Their dedication and commitment to driving change should educate and inspire other employers to make a difference, whatever their size or sector.”
Emma Tucker, Deputy Editor, The Times, said: "The Times is proud to support Business in the Community's campaign to improve women's careers by publishing a special report, for the fifth year running, to celebrate the Top 50 Employers for Women.
"The supplement will bring to a wide audience the steps that these 50 organisations are making to create a fairer and better working environment for women and will also highlight the challenges still to be overcome in the wider workplace."
The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is free for any employer with a UK presence to enter and involves a comprehensive submission process, which is managed by Opportunity Now. All organisations within the Top 50 have demonstrated that gender equality is a key part of their business strategy, with consistent commitment to progressing women in the workplace that covers their entire organisation, not just isolated areas.
Organisations submit detailed information on their internal processes, as well as external activity that promotes gender equality, diversity and inclusion and create opportunities for women in a wider context. Each entry form is stringently marked against a framework of best practice and assessed anonymously by a team of gender diversity experts within Opportunity Now. The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is unranked, and organisations are listed in alphabetical order.
