Flexible working is becoming more and more popular in today’s workplace, with advantages to both employer and employee.

Flexible working is different from working from home. Flexible working gives us the freedom to manage our own time. For many employees this means having the flexibility to improve their work/life balance, reduce commuting time and cost. With a simple change to our working style, our well being could improve.

I joined Aon over 2 years ago as a Recruitment Business Partner. Alongside recruitment, my other passion in life is dogs! You might think that working full time would limit my ability to own and care for a dog, but… working at Aon is different!

Thanks to Aon’s flexible working policy I work from home twice a week. This means my dog gets to enjoy my company for longer, but I also benefit from lunch time walks. This provides the perfect reason to have a break from my computer screen and increases my daily exercise. Taking regular breaks from computer work is proven to boost productivity. The most significant benefit is the money I save on dog walking fees. Working at home twice a week saves over £900 a year!

In addition to owning a dog, working at Aon has also allowed me to foster dogs through a local dog rescue centre. This is extremely rewarding and is only possible due to the flexibility Aon provides me with.

Aon also allow us 1 day per year to give back to our local community, and this year that meant I could spend the day volunteering at a local dog rescue centre.
