LGBT+ History month is a time for education and celebration.
In the UK, we observe this month in February and it’s an opportunity to learn about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements.
At Aviva we’ve also been taking this time to shine a spotlight on some of our own outstanding LGBT+ role models.
Meet David Scott, a Graduate IT Apprentice who is part of our General Insurance business, and the first of our role models.
Why is LGBT+ History Month important?
It’s an important opportunity to look back at our LGBT+ history and see how far we have come in achieving progress with LGBT+ rights. Many role models endured a tough fight throughout our history and we must continue the work to ensure equality is granted for all.
What does being an LGBT+ role model mean to you?
The opportunity to support and listen to others, by giving them a safe space to speak up. Allowing LGBT+ young people to see people just like them in all walks of life.
Aviva Pride in one word…?
Aviva Pride gives me HOPE for the future. A chance for our business to make positive change in society and drive towards a more diverse culture within our Aviva family.
