Lendlease’s phenomenal approach to diversity and inclusion has earned them the award of the National Equality Standard. They are only the 2nd construction company to be awarded such recognition.
The standard is assessed independently by EY, the professional services firm and supported by the Home Office, business group the CBI and the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
Lendlease has rolled out mental health training to more than six hundred staff and introduced well-being leave for all of its employees, as well as, a 50:50 graduate intake to increase the number of women becoming a part of the industry.
So far, the firm is one amongst only fifteen companies to achieve the National Equality Standard across various industries.
By achieving the National Equality Standard in February, Interserve is the only other built environment representative to have this recognition.
Dan Labbad, the chief executive officer for international operations at Lendlease, said that they are pleased to have been recognised as the first property group to have successfully accomplished this highly coveted standard.
Advancing greater diversity and inclusivity is an important industry challenge and the ongoing work of the National Equality Standard offers an extremely valuable platform for assisting businesses in addressing this key priority.
Arun Batra, the chief executive of the National Equality Standard, said that he is very happy that Lendlease have become the first property group and one of the first construction companies to have obtained the National Equality Standard. He further says that the commitment and hard work the company has undertaken and the dedication that they have demonstrated to their agenda of diversity and inclusion is something that the company should be proud of.
