Jacobs received top honors on the 2020 Disability Equality Index, a national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices related to disability inclusion and workplace equality.

At Jacobs, we live inclusion. We put people at the heart of our business. We have an unparalleled focus on inclusion, with a diverse team of visionaries, thinkers and doers. We embrace all perspectives, collaborating to make a positive impact.

Our 90% score on the 2020 Disability Equality Index (DEI) by Disability:IN, the leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide, is a testament to the focus we’ve put on developing a culture where you can bring your whole self to work.

First launched in 2015, the DEI is a benchmarking tool for the Fortune 1000 and America’s top 200 revenue grossing law firms (Am Law 200) to compare their level of disability workplace inclusion against competitors in culture and leadership, enterprise-wide access, employment practices, community engagement supplier diversity and non-U.S. operations.

Top-scoring businesses, those who score an 80% or higher, are recognized as “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion.”

“Joining, belonging and thriving — these are our objectives for each employee at Jacobs; we are developing a culture at Jacobs where people want to stay for their entire career— where people can bring their best, whole selves to work and be a key contributor to the innovate solutions we provide to our clients,” says Jacobs Chief Human Resources Officer Shelie Gustafson. “The top-score on the Disability Equality Index and ‘Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion’ designation together demonstrate Our Jacobs culture and how our core values underpin the focus we have, both in our company and with our clients, to create a brighter, and more inclusive, future for all.”

Many recent achievements and advancements factored into our receiving the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” designation, including growing our employee network, ACE (Access, Connect, Empower), joining The Valuable 500, an organization that seeks to ensure disability inclusion is on business leadership agendas across the globe, and strengthening our Mental Health Matters program.

As part of The Valuable 500, Jacobs joined more than 200 global companies pledging to take a definitive stand on diversity encompassing disability in the workplace. Our ACE Employee Network promotes and raises awareness of those with physical, cognitive and mobility impairments, and to support caregivers, their families and friends, as well as our clients and members of the community – helping us find strength in our differences.

Additionally, as part of our award-winning Mental Health Matters program, we've now trained more than 1,500 Positive Mental Health Champions, including 90+% of our global senior leadership team, helping efforts to normalize the mental health conversation throughout Jacobs – and push the envelope further to live out our values.

“The best way to attract, retain and grow talent with disabilities is to create an accessible, inclusive workplace,” says Disability:IN President & Chief Executive Officer Jill Houghton. “This year’s top-scoring Disability Equality Index companies are demonstrating their commitment to many of the numerous leading disability inclusion practices featured in the DEI, recognizing that there’s still room for improvement. We are proud to have developed strong partnerships with corporate allies who are committed to advancing disability inclusion and equality across their businesses in the United States and around the world.”

In addition to the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” from DEI, Jacobs ranked on Forbes Best Employers for Diversity 2020 list for the first time, and for the second year in a row, we received a score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI)

At Jacobs, we’re always looking for dynamic and engaged people to join our team. Bring your passion, your ingenuity and your vision. Let’s see the impact we can create, together.
