How we're helping raise money for 'Jeans for Genes Day' this year.
An employee tells us why ‘Jeans for Genes day’ is important to his family and how you can join him in supporting it.
"My youngest daughter is affected by an undiagnosed genetic disorder that has changed our family life dramatically.
Small things people usually take for granted have now become great tasks. The simplest day-to-day tasks, such as getting the children up and dressed in the mornings, or a trip to the shops now take much more consideration and planning".
Why Jeans for Genes day?
There are between 4,000 and 6,000 diagnosed genetic disorders. It’s estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder and that 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed in the UK each year.
Jeans for Genes helps disorder-specific charities and patient groups to deliver inspiring projects and support services for children affected by a genetic disorder in the UK.
The money raised on Jeans for Genes Day provide grants for day-to-day support, equipment, nursing and patient support services, and events which bring together affected families like mine and also helps to fund research in to the many genetic disorders that exist.
How you can help
All you need to do is to wear your jeans to work on the official Jeans for Genes Day and bring in just £2 to support the cause. If you prefer wearing your regular clothes, you can still donate.
The collection boxes will be available across our sites.
