I was watching a link on YouTube posted by Sharon Pegg on Linkedin about “The Black Dog”
No, before you start thinking “how cute”, she was reminding us how things can be an enormous burden on us if we don’t have a job. There are many reasons why people are unemployed, redundancy, ill health, lack of experience and many more. Without employment many people’s problems are magnified, to the tune that they are not able to concentrate. Depression then sinks in. This is when it can be at it’s worst as things seem to be at their worst. These can be everyday things, like when the next bill is coming, how are we going pay for it? Or even to the point of have we got enough to eat tonight?
There are so many scenarios and very often than not we don’t have the answers, this therefore gets us down. As we get older we have more responsibilities, mortgage, bills, family. All these need money. It, as I have said in earlier blogs, important that everyone is given an equal opportunity of having a job, or dare I say their desired job. With a job it brings identity and purpose and confidence. This is an idealistic scenario but it is so important for the individual concerned, as it brings hope for the future and a better life. To be able to look ahead and say “Yes I can do that”. Independence is so important for everyone, without it “The Black Dog” may bring us down.
