How does your career support your life purpose?

My life purpose is to have lots of money without having to work for it!

I have a feeling that most people would probably struggle to know what their life purpose is. It is sometimes easier to know what it isn't, which provides an away from force, but knowing exactly what it is, and being certain of it, is probably rare.

I think your true life purpose lies in your heart, not in your head, which is filled with all the things that other people have projected onto you, which is influenced by your upbringing, education, the people you mix with etc.

Your life purpose will have many sides to it, of which your career is just one. You purpose probably includes being a good parent, friend, work colleague and good human being. Whether the career part of your life purpose is to help others, create things, be of public service, entertain people, and make new discoveries etc. only you can know. Sometimes we find ourselves upon career paths which we are good at and which deliver success, but that doesn't mean it is in line with your life purpose.

Some people just know, from an early age, what they are meant to do. My lovely wife Jenny is a perfect example, ever since she was a young teenager, she knew she liked children and wanted to work with them. She left home at sixteen to study to become a nursery nurse, 30 years plus later she is still working with children. She owns her own Montessori Nursery School, which she founded over 20 years ago and is rated by the Government Inspectors OFSTED as "Outstanding". It is impossible to care more for the children than she does; she never stops learning, never stops pushing herself and her staff to be even better.

When you know your life purpose and you are living it, it doesn't mean you don't have challenges along the way, but you have an inner peace, and a deep sense of fulfilment and the certainty you are doing what you are meant to do. From the outside, it is a joy to behold, it is as if it creates a force field of positive energy, there is that something extra that is hard to quantify, but you just know it when you see it. It is like the world's top singers and actors, they just have the ability to take things that little bit further, it is like there is a magic in the air, they do things effortlessly, and they are a force for good.

Your career doesn't just support your life purpose, it is part of your life purpose; it is there to deliver everything that you want and need from it.
