Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentFor a good few years I have been suffering with Osteo-Arthritis in my hips and Spondylosis and facet joint syndrome in my mid- and lower spine. It is something I can’t stop - it is degenerative…not to mention very painful. Some days, getting out of the house can be a marathon. You’d never really know, as I keep it hidden as much as I can, while I can.
From the word go, the CAA have been absolutely key in helping manage my condition, from helping me with parking, helping me with desk and chair changes, and not to mention with the incredible provision of the physio facility we have here. This all complements what I can control for myself and has made everything more ‘cope-able’.
Interventional spinal injections and procedures to help with pain and mobility, keeping as fit as I can, posture training, having extra supportive car seats installed, driving on routes with minimal speedhumps, things done in the home etc… All these adjustments work together and work well and have just taken a bit of forward thought and planning over the years.
One thing is certain; without the support from CAA, I would not have been able to cope at work every day. We now have a superb gym facility provided here at Aviation House, which is incredibly helpful so no excuses not to be keeping my core strength up to snuff!
Living with a hidden disability isn’t easy but the support from colleagues and managers makes so much difference every single day.
Kind wishes,
Liz Goddard
