Diwali celebrations with Haymarket Media Group

On 3rd November, in the social hub of our Twickenham HQ, we enjoyed an amazing spread of samosas, sweets, chai and more to celebrate Diwali. 

This was thanks to one of our DEI groups, Origin, who decorated the ground floor of Bridge House with lights and lanterns and even served us the yummy treats! 

One of the brains behind this year's Diwali celebrations was Suki de Silva, UK Financial Controller at Haymarket. She said: She said: "I'm glad that everyone enjoyed the food! Diwali is a huge part of the South Asian culture so it was great to celebrate it in a small way. "Thank you all for coming and please look out for future DEI events, or if you would like to get involved do come along to our Origin meetings!"

The Origin group at Haymarket was formed as part of a wider initiative to support and promote Haymarket’s diversity and inclusion strategy. Origin are a networking body whose primary purpose is to effectively guide, balance and support Haymarket’s policies around diversity and inclusion, particularly in regards to race, national origin, citizenship, religion and socioeconomic diversity.

As a group Origin's focus is to implement projects and drive actions that will create a more inclusive, open and collaborative environment for all of us at Haymarket. With a view to tackling and deconstructing legacy cultures and practices that may act as a barrier to diversity and racial equity within the business. Origin meet regularly to engage in earnest dialogue and active listening as a group in order to better understand the perspectives of other colleagues from different socioeconomic backgrounds and races. Origin network also hosts a podcast and a book club.
