WWF appoints new Executive Director of Advocacy and Campaigns

WWF (Worldwide Fund for Nature) has announced changes to its senior team, with the appointment of its new Executive Director of Advocacy and Campaigns. From September, WWF’s Advocacy and Campaigns department will be led, as a job share, by Katie White OBE and Kate Norgrove.

Kate Norgrove comes to WWF from creative and campaigns consultancy firm Purpose, where she was Senior Director, supporting organisations to put purpose and participation at the heart of what they do. Kate has 20 years’ experience as a campaigner on issues ranging from international arms control to education policy, and has significant expertise in supporting the development of impactful organisations working to make a difference.

Katie White OBE joins WWF from Nord Anglia Education Foundation, where she was Director. Katie has spent her career pressing governments to face up to the challenges of climate change. She co-led the campaign at Friends of the Earth for what became the 2008 Climate Change Act and then worked for the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, preparing for the 2009 Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. Since leaving government, Katie has also been Campaigns Director at the One campaign.

Tanya Steele, Chief Executive at WWF, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Kate and Katie to WWF – there has never been a more exciting time to join us in building a movement of people who support the fight for our world. We’re at a crucial tipping point in our history where we are the first generation that knows we’re destroying the planet and could be the last that can do anything about it. Kate and Katie’s vision and experience will strengthen our work inspiring millions of people across the UK to take action to restore nature and improve the state of our planet for generations to come.”
