Community Fundraiser delivers a successful workshop for volunteer Fundraising Ambassadors, with plans for more in the future
On Wednesday 25 November Hannah Miller, Community fundraiser for Surrey and West Sussex held a very successful Volunteer Fundraising Ambassador Workshop at the Reading office where Fiona and Julie from the Community Fundraising team were also joined by volunteers Callye, Deana and Judy. After the session everyone felt a lot more confident discussing dementia and the Alzheimer's Society's key messages when invited to representative Alzheimer's Society at local fundraising events and cheque presentations.
'Our fundraisers and volunteers are hugely inspiring. Whether it is going along to a fundraising event and seeing all the effort supporters go to raise vital funds for Alzheimer's Society or to a cheque presentation, I find it the most humbling opportunity to be able to whole heartedly tell them how grateful I am on behalf of a charity I am so passionate about. I think that a personal thank you is so important for fundraisers where possible and often we don't have the capacity to accept every invitation that we get so having more volunteers like Deana, Judy and Callye means that more of our fundraisers can feel that their efforts are truly appreciated.'
Do you feel that you could represent Alzheimer's Society a couple of times a year or more at fundraising events and/or cheque presentations to raise awareness and say thank you? If so, we will provide full training and support and cover any travel expenses incurred (for attending the workshop and for any events attended). To find out more or to book to come along to one of our workshops please get in touch. This workshop is open to existing and new volunteers and staff who would like to become a Fundraising Volunteer Representative. If there is not a workshop in your area, but you are still interested please do let us know and we will see if we can accommodate you.
