Blog by Jenny Yerworth on 'Facing adversity and the challenges'
During our lives we may have had to face challenges and have managed to get through them with the help of other people, giving up their time to raise money for their cause.
This is what a group called Sunningdale Hope Trust does. There have been various events where money has been raised for various local community projects and individuals.
The way money has been raised is through different events. A few examples of how this has been done, Coast to Coast sponsored walk, a musical adapted from The Mikado, to be called The Mockado! What a fun evening that was.
The Coast to Coast was from Whitehaven to Scarborough, approximately 165 miles. During that walk all kinds of weather was experienced.
The most recent event has been The Great Glen Challenge. This was walking TheGreat Glen Way which was 120km long from Fort William to Inverness. There were two walks in this challenge one the High Road, which of the two was the greater distance and the other the Low Road. This was walked by most of those taking part including two girls aged 9 and 7.
It was a great time for the walkers, with the stunning scenery to accompany them all the way.
The money raised has been earmarked for individual projects or people who have a need for either financial assistance or equipment that would make a difference in their lives.
There are so many challenges to face in today's society and it can be helped by people raising money for individual needs. We are all unique in our abilities and there are different ways that can help other people to have a better quality of life.
