Get ready for EnfieldThinks, London’s first pop-up learning shop, providing free learning designed to get you into education, back into work or to liven up your spare time.
EnfieldThinks is coming to Burleigh Way, Enfield Town, between 7 April and 27 June. The project will completely transform an empty shop into a vibrant space for education and creativity, hosting three months of free learning and careers events.
We’ll be running G.C.S.E and A Level language revision classes, discussing London’s housing crisis and human rights in Ukraine with leading academics, and offering workshops in building and computer aided design. From art to animals, French to flowers and building to business, EnfieldThinks has events to interest everyone. Sessions will be open to everyone and participants will be able to experience a wide range of potential courses and careers, conveniently located on their high street.
Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Cllr Alan Sitkin, said: “This is a brilliant project designed to encourage people to try different qualifications and to do the subjects traditionally seen as difficult by young people – science, technology, engineering and maths, although EnfieldThinks is for people of all ages to enjoy.
“We want to help students make informed choices and promote the options available to career changers and people re-entering the labour market.
“We also hope to promote the educational options available for retired people and inspire intellectual curiosity amongst Enfield’s residents.”
EnfieldThinks is a project run by Enfield Council; Birkbeck, University of London; Christian Action Housing and the borough’s further education colleges - Barnet & Southgate; Capel Manor and the College of Haringey, Enfield & North East London.
