You Make the Difference in Essex Awards 2018

These awards recognise the hard work and dedication of Essex County Council employees, teams and partners who make a real difference to the people of Essex.

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s You Make the Difference in Essex Awards!  They are:

Line Manager of the Year - Chris Kelly, Corporate and Customer Services

“I’m really humbled to win and so grateful to the member of my team who nominated me.  I don’t actually know who that was so I think I’d better find out now to say thanks!  I’m proud to represent my service at the awards and to be recognised for just doing my day job.”

Partnership Working Award - Community Building Youth Clubs team, Children & Families and Education

“We’ve worked so hard and the young people are always at the heart of what we do every day.  It’s fantastic to be recognised.”

Learner of the Year - Robyn Evans, Corporate and Customer Services

“It’s lovely to feel that my hard work is appreciated, particularly by my colleagues who I work with side by side every day.  It really is great to have such a boost before I take my next exams and good luck to all my finance colleagues taking them too!”

Special Recognition Awards:

Special Police Constables

“Delighted to receive this wonderful special recognition award for the work that we undertake in supporting the local community as part of the Special Constabulary.”

Essex Highways

Virtual Dementia Tour team

“It is a great privilege to be involved in work that makes a profound difference to the quality of people’s lives, for residents who have dementia, their carers, families and professionals who look after them but it is amazing that it is recognised by ECC.”

Outstanding Achievement Award – Essex Integrated Sexual Health Service

 “Great recognition for all the teams work in developing the app – thank you.”

Team of the Year – Chelmsford Prison Library Team, Corporate and Customer Services

“We’re completely thrilled to receive this and get recognition for something that few people know about but is so important.  We make a difference to the lives of families every day.”

Employee of the Year – Neil Smith, Infrastructure and Environment

“I am really very proud to have received this award.  It’s fantastic to have your work recognised in such a way, and I’m grateful to all those who have supported me in this.”
