Skip to main contentInternational Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year, globally, we strive for gender balance (#BalanceforBetter)
Durham has an incredible history of women making a difference to the University community as well as the wider, international community in which we work. We would like to celebrate the achievements of current staff and students as nominated by their peers.
These female or non-binary student and/or staff member has made a difference to the nominator, to their academic or professional field, or to the wider community.

Tampon and Towel Donation Drive
In recognition of International Women’s Day on Friday, 8 March, the Colleges Office has organised a University-wide Tampons and Towels Donation Drive (4 March - 8 March) for local homeless and vulnerable women.
The inspiration for this originally came from a website called The Homeless Period, which aims to put a spotlight on this hidden problem and encourage sanitary product donations. With limited or no access to sanitary products, homeless women are often forced to go without.
